R.E.O. are the initials of 'Ransom Eli Olds' of Oldsmobile fame in the USA! The Father of the Automobile and production line!
He left Oldsmobile and made a line of the Ultimate/ Premium vehicles which he was feeling held back with in the former business at that stage.
REOs were known as "The Worlds Toughest Truck" and led the way for decades, including in Australia!
US President Roosevelt rides in REO motor car 1907 with Ransom Eli Olds REO were revolutionary and had many firsts including the hydraulic internal expanding brake systems (Drum brakes) Pnuematic tyres on steel rims, shaft driven axles, electric starters and lighting etc. Cars featured styling by Fabio Segardi. While Ned Jordan is credited with changing the way advertising was written with his "Somewhere West of Laramie" ads for his Jordan Playboy, Reo's Flying Cloud car——a name that provoked evocative images of speed and lightness——changed the way automobiles would be named in the future. Ransom Eli Olds was actually the first to implement the production line too! (Not Henry Ford)
OHV SIX CYLINDER PETROL engine with manual gearbox / transmission. The super robust and reliable Gold Comet engine, these were the usual REO engines used in Australia.
REO GOLD COMET 2 Barrel Six Cylinder Petrol ENGINES: Were the very last and best produced by REO and the most powerful and efficient etc and were so ahead of thier time that they were used from 1949 right through to the mid 1970s.
They were very popular for upgrading other makes of Trucks & Buses, as they were considered the leading, modern cutting-edge engine of the day! OHV / Valves in-head. 292, 331 CID etc. High CHROMIUM NICKEL and they are also a WET-SLEEVE design. This means that the cylinder wall (sleeve) is a separately machined part that fits into the cylinder bores cast into the engine block. This enhances durability because the consistent wall thickness of the sleeve allows for consistent heat transfer, ensuring the cylinders stay round during thermal expansion. Additionally, the hardened cylinder sleeve is more durable and wear resistant than a softer, cast-in wall. Also, the replaceable cylinder sleeves protect the block from damage (e.g. in case of foreign objects entering the cylinder) and can easily be replaced, which enables simpler restoration to original specifications. The wet-sleeve design also allows the engine to be rebuilt easily to factory specifications, sometimes without even removing the engine from the vehicle.

(We even remember taking the last of the local Entrance Red REO buses to High School up to nearly the 1980s on the Central Coast NSW Australia / Gosford area)

And often they are very rare New Old/Obsolete Stock Parts that we have searched the World for over many years using our research and hands-on specialised experience in most of these vehicles & parts accumulated by our family since the 1920s (Most parts have been shelved for decades) Note that specially ordered in, or one off/ not-regularly stocked and advertised items by us, or custom manufactured and/or modified goods are NOT eligible for exchange or credit and we are non-profit and only really do those to assist fellow enthusiasts while we are clearing everything anyway.
Any returns for credit or exchange or manufacturers warranty (IF available on rare brand new ordered in items only) will NOT be accepted without prior approval, and ultimately will be decided by us carefully as we see as fair, using our vast experience in these classic/vintage cars and parts. Any exchange or credit MUST be requested within 14 days of the Invoice/order date and the buyer is responsible for return postage as is standard practice elsewhere. Also goods must be packed safely and returned via a tracked delivery service as a minimum (As they were sent) with the same/original packaging and in unused/resalable condition as we sent them to you. With ALL original bits & pieces that were originally included in the shipment. Insurance is the buyers responsibility like anywhere else and can be requested on any purchase. Once sent, items are out of our hands and responsibility goes to the carrier. and we have no control over this as we are not Couriers or Australia Post.
